ABC’s David Muir returns to air in baggy jacket after being mocked for ‘vanity’ with tailored look

ABC anchor David Muir made a noticeable change on Thursday night after he was slashed for appearing to use clothespins to give his outfit a more fitted look while reporting from the scene of the devastating LA fires a day earlier.

During Wednesday’s “ABC World News Tonight,” Muir wore a yellow fire jacket with the ABC News logo. At one point during his reporting, Muir turned to his left and revealed what appeared to be clips that keep the jacket tight around his body. Social media users mocked the news anchor for appearing to put too much effort into his appearance while covering the disaster.

“Nice jacket bro. Glad you’re looking nice and slim with those clothespins while our city burns to the ground,” rock star Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack Osbourne wrote on Wednesday’s X , blasting the host for allegedly taking care of his appearance during tragedies.

The younger Osbourne’s post quickly garnered more than 3 million views, and Muir was criticized by other prominent X users, who accused him of being vain and embarrassing himself.

ABC anchor David Muir reported on the ongoing wildfire in Southern California, noticeably wearing a baggy jacket instead of a button-down one.

But on Thursday night, while reporting from the scene, he wore his fire jacket open and was noticeably more relaxed. The broadcast also included shots of him completely without a jacket, instead of wearing casual clothes while he was examined the wreckage.
