Everton have sacked Sean Dyche
Everton have confirmed they have sacked manager Sean Dyche just hours before they face Peterborough in the FA Cup third round.
Dyche, who joined in January 2023, has guided the team to just three wins from 19 games this season and leaves Everton just one point above the relegation zone.
He recently admitted that the results did not meet expectations and admitted that his position was under threat.
“To be clear, it should be,” he said. “At the end of the day, if you’re a company of this size and this club, a succession plan should certainly be part of their due diligence.
“You’ve got to win games, we haven’t won enough this season, you’ve got to make sure the team is working the right way, you’ve got to try to please everyone, all the time. It’s a job and we haven’t done it often enough, and it comes down to me, without a doubt.”
Dyche leaves along with coaching staff Ian Woane, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer.
Everton have begun the search for a new manager, but in the meantime will hand over first-team duties to under-18s manager Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman, who will take charge of the Toffees’ FA Cup clash with Peterborough on Thursday.
