The US seeks to deport the Pro-Palestinian Georgetown University Student

Administration of US President Donald Trump detained an Indian who studied at Georgetown University in Washington and wants to deport him after he considered him a harm of US foreign policy, a student lawyer said on Wednesday.

The American Ministry of Homeland Security (DHS) accused Badar Khan Suri of connecting with the Palestinian militant group of Hamas and said he had spread Hamas’s propaganda and anti -Semitism on social media, according to a statement she shared with Fox News.

The DHS for Fox News, banned by the deputy chief of the White House, Stephen Miller, did not quote the evidence. It was said that State Secretary Marco Rubio determined that Suri’s activities “made him deposited.”

Suri, who lives in the United States on a student visa and is married to an American citizen, has been detained in Alexandria, La., And awaits a court date at the Immigration Court, his lawyer said. Federal agents arrested him outside a home in Rosslyn, Va, Monday night.

The case comes as Trump seeks to deport foreigners who participated in the Pro-Palestinian protests against the US ally of Israel in his war against Gaza. The war began after the Hamas attack in October 2023 in southern Israel, which killed approximately 1,200 people, and another 251 took hostages, according to Israeli Tallies. The Israeli offensive has since killed over 48,000 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

In the United States, Trump’s measures have caused a deviation from groups of advocating civil rights and immigrants who accuse his administration of unfairly aiming for political critics.

Columbia student flees to Canada after being caught in Trump’s breakthrough of international students

Two weeks ago, the wounded was sinking in an international student from India for graduate work at the Columbia University of New York. She is now in Canada, after escaping from the immigration authorities who came in search of her after her student visa was suddenly taken away. She spoke with David Common in an interview with exclusive in Canada.

Suri is a postdoctoral associate at Georgetown’s Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian understanding, which is part of the University School of Foreign Service. His arrest was first reported by Politico.

“If a scholar who focuses on solving a conflict is the one who decides to be bad for foreign policy, it may be a problem with the government, not a scientist,” said Suria’s lawyer Ue -Poruci.

Georgetown University spokesman said the University did not receive a reason for Suria’s custody, and was not aware that Suri was dealing with any illegal activities.

Suria’s wife, Mapheze Saleh, is a citizen now, his lawyer said. Saleh was from Gaza, according to the Georgetown University website, who said she wrote for Al Jazeera and Palestinian media and worked with the Gaza Foreign Affairs Ministry. Saleh was not arrested, the lawyer added.

Suri himself taught the class of this semester on “Malajnitarism and minority rights in southern Asia,” and received his doctorate. In the studies of peace and conflict at the University of India, it is said on the Georgetown University website.

Earlier this month, Trump’s administration arrested and sought to deport the Columbia Mahmoud Khalil University student for her participation in Pro-Palestinian protests. Khalil challenges his custody in court.

Trump, without evidence, accused Khalil of supporting Hamas. Khalil’s legal team says it has nothing to do with the militant group they now designate as a “foreign terrorist organization”.

Trump claimed that the Pro-Palestinian protesters were anti-Semitic. Pro-Palestinian proponents, including some Jewish groups, say that their criticism of critics is misjudged with their criticism of Israel’s attack on Gaza and their support to Palestinian rights misjudged with anti-Semitism.
