Matthew Doyle Communication Director, Sir Keir Starmer, should deviate from his role after just nine months in the post.
The 49-year-old served as a special advisor to former Prime Minister Tony Blair and conducted communication for the 2015 Liz Kendall Leadership campaign.
Doyle wrote in a letter to his colleagues in Downing Street that “when I started working for Keir four years ago, many people thought we could win the general elections, and certainly not emphasized the way we did.”
He added, “I am incredibly proud of the role I have played in the return of our party to the Government and the change we are already bringing to the country,” he wrote, adding “now it’s time to cross the baton.”
