Boxing will be located at the 2028 Olympics.
After the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that the boxing be involved in the Los Angeles schedule, the MOO session unanimously voted to confirm it.
The sport was taken away from the Games after several official scandals, corruption allegations and lack of financial transparency.
The former boxing body, IBA under the guidance of Russian Russian, was expelled from the Olympic movement for its failures in reform. Moo Sam has launched boxing tournaments at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and Paris, but he wouldn’t do that for the third time.
This left boxing on the trail to crash from the Olympic Games once and until a new body formed, a world boxing box that sought to replace IBA and get Olympic recognition.
Last month, IOC approved the world boxing of boxing as a boxer new management body, and now, after the IOC Executive Board decided to put sports forward on the MOO session for including 2028, that decision was confirmed by boxing because the Olympic sport was rescued.
“I thank you for the approval that the box has returned. We can look forward to a great boxer tournament,” said IOC IOC Thomas Bach.
World Boxing President Boris Van der Vorst said: “This is a great day for boxers, boxes and all related to our sport, at all levels, around the world.
“This outcome has achieved a huge team effort of a huge number of people in every part of the world and would not be possible without hard work and commitment to all national federations, boxers, coaches, officials and boxer leaders who have made it possible to happen.
“We will do everything in our power to ensure that we act according to the highest standards of management and transparency and provide sports integrity.
“World Boxing realizes that it is part of the Olympic Games of Privilege, not the right, and we are determined to be a reliable and reliable partner who will adhere to and support the values of the Olympic Movement.”
‘Another big story about returning’
Luminaries from sports also welcomed the outcome. Chairman of the World Boxing Olympic Commission, Gennadiy Golovkin, who in 2004 provided a silver medal at the Athens Olympic Games before winning the world’s midfielder in the professional ranks, said: “The IOC decision to box in Los Angeles Olympic Games Ol-Oladim.
“This means that we have been able to preserve a dream that inspires thousands of athletes around the world. As an Olympian, I understand how important it is for future generations of champions. The Olympic Games are not only two competitions, they are a symbol of hope, trying to show the world.
“Step by step, we did everything to preserve boxing with its rich history and tradition in the Olympic program, so that every young athlete would have one day stand on the Olympic podium under the flag of their country.
Ukrainian legend Wladimir Klitschko, who is the longest -running heavyweight champion in history and won gold in Atlanta in 1996, said: “This is absolutely fantastic news. Winning of Olympic gold was one of the biggest prominent moments in my career and I would hate to see how that opportunity is taken away from future generations.
“The Olympic Games are so important to our sport and if they were not part of it, it would be a disaster for boxes and boxers everywhere from wide to professionals.
“This is another great story about the return for boxing. It was a long, difficult battle, but in the end it reached the right decision, I want to thank and congratulate everyone who is related to the World Boxing for the job they have done to save boxing as an Olympic sport.”
Cindy Ngamba, who became the first member of the refugee team to win the Olympic medal when she took the middleweight bronze in Paris in 2024, added: “This is a huge step for a boxer community. The uncertainty of the Olympic future of our sport was difficult, but this decision means all athletes.
“As someone who had the honor of representing the refugee team, I know from firsthand how many Olympic Games represent hope and opportunity. It is not just medals – but about the fact that fighters from all the background give a platform to show their talent. I look forward to seeing the boxes on the LA28 Olympic program.”
