Syrian security source said Al Jazeera that 15 security staff were killed in ‘various armed ambush’.
They filled loyal to the overthrown Syrian leaders Bashar Al-Assad killed at least 15 security staff in the Latakia Coastal Province, a security source told Al Jazeera.
The attacks occurred on Thursday near the town of Jableh in the village of Latakia, a part of the coastal area that makes the heart of the Alawita minority sect to which the Al-Assad family belongs.
The Syrian security source told Al Jazeera Arab Network that 15 security staff had been killed in “various armed ambush”.
“The Syrian state will impose its powers to all groups outside the law and will not allow safety to threaten,” the source said.
Reporting from Damascus, Resul Al Jazeera, said the tensions were after the attack.
“Since the fall of the Assad regime three months ago, this is perhaps one of the biggest security challenges that the new government is facing,” he said.
The Central Government sent reinforcements consisting of “dozens and dozens of military vehicles” to the city of Lataki of several governors, including Hama, Homs and Idlib, he said.
Shortly after the attack, Commander Assad’s Era posted a video, saying that a group of resistance was formed against the new Government called “Coastal Thyroid Regiment,” Serdar said.
The Director of the Latakia Province Security earlier told the Syrian State Gazette Agency Sana that the security forces had clashed in the village of Latakia with the armed groups loyal to the Special Forces Commander Assad Suhail Al-Hassan.
Latakia security forces have announced that the situation has been under surveillance now and that several attackers have been killed, with “many more trapped,” Serdar said. A police watch was announced in the coastal city of Tartous.
