Shane Bond warns Jasprit Bumrah of a potential career injury ahead of the IPL 2025

Jasprit BumrahOne of the main Indian rapid bowlers, was the subject of increasing concern about repetitive back injuries. Former New Zealand Pacer Shane Bondwho faced similar career challenges, he issued a strict warning about the potential long -term consequences for Bimrah if his work load is not governed carefully.
Bumrah first gained a back injury associated with stress during Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25where he picked up 32 shots in five tests but broke down during the last match in Sydney. Pacer was undergoing back surgery in March 2023 and has since been rehabilitated. He missed key events such as The Champions Trophy 2025 for repeating problems.
Risk of injury completed career
Bond, who withdrew too early due to chronic back injuries, raised alarms about Bumrah’s future. Bond warned that another injury would be in the same place where Bumrah had surgery to potentially end his career. He explained that further operations may not be feasible, which has criticized the prevention.
“If he has another injury in the same place, it could be career, because I’m not sure you can have surgery again at that place,” “ Bond said he quoted Espncricinfo.

Managing work load is the key
Bond emphasized the importance of careful management of Bumrah’s work load, especially during the tournament with high roles. Advised not to play Bumrah on more than two consecutive tests during the upcoming India A five -test series in England. The transition from the IPL to testing the cricket is significant risks due to the drastic change in bowling intensity and work load.
“The transition from IPL to testing the crisis will be a huge risk. It is too hard for the next World Cup and Things. So, you would watch five tests in England, I wouldn’t want to play it for more than two in a row.” The bond was added.
