Postecoglou ‘citing the fact’ and no regrets for the trophy in the second season

Tottenham chief Ange Postecoglou says he doesn’t regret that he has always won a trophy in his second season at the club.

Spurs’s hopes that silver joints in the League of Europe will be thrown out of the Carabao and FA Cup last month.

And the North London Club found himself 1-0 down on the aggregate to AZ Alkmaar in the last 16 years, with a return leg on Thursday.

But Postecoglou does not feel pressure and says that his side is still able to support his claim to win in his second term.

Speaking in front of the Alkmaar game, he said, “No, there is no additional pressure. We were obviously disappointed with our performance in the first part. It is important that we do not prevent us from returning, it is still very tight.

“They have an advantage, but playing at home, if we can play with the intensity and pace we worked over the weekend, I think we will have the opportunity to make progress.

“If we are progressing, we will have another big challenge in the next round. The focus is to make a strong performance tomorrow night.

“My gaze has always been when he asks you something, answer it. I didn’t make up anything, I answered the question.

“People used it for their purposes by suggesting that I set a brave request. I just cited the fact. If that doesn’t happen, then I can’t say more next year, can they? People can twist these things, I can use them.

“If we win a trophy this season, some people might say,” Oh, isn’t it nice that he did it after making such a bold claim. “Not. People will only use it the way they want any circumstances. I will always answer questions in the way I am pleasing.”

A quick exit to the Europa League would leave the Australian in a very sticky situation in Spurs.

With an extremely bad form of the Premier Club League and prevent them from qualifying for Europe next season, the whole campaign comes down to their features in Europe.

And when asked if he could lose his job if the Spurs could not make progress, he replied: “There are not many professions that you have to enter and answer such questions, right?

“I will be decent and say that we are focused on winning the game tomorrow night. We have to invest a better effect than last Thursday. It was not close to the standard we wanted to play.

“We did some good things for the weekend, some not so good things. If we can play with the intensity and pace we played on weekends, we will give ourselves a good opportunity to progress. “
