Aston Villa are very interested in signing the ‘clinical’ £40m Premier League ace
Aston Villa they are now very interested in a “clinical” £40m signing Premier League player, according to the report.
Villa are planning more signings for January
It could be a busy month at Villa Park, with Unai Emery plans to make up for it three signatures in the January transfer window, with one target being Borussia Dortmund striker Donyell Malen, who could be available for a fee of around £25m.
Mateo Retegui from Atalanta is another option for Villa, with Emery clearly looking to strengthen in attacking areas this winter, but could also look to bolster his squad in other areas, with a new midfielder of interest.
The Villans are interested in signing Chelsea’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hallwith the fact that the Englishman’s career at Stamford Bridge has not yet succeeded, but the competition for his signature could be numerous other Premier League.

However, Dewsbury-Hall is not the only Premier League player on Emery’s midfield target list, with Football Insider reporting that Aston Villa are very interested in re-signing Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea.
The Blues are willing to allow Chukwuemeka to leave this winter, and would be asking for a fee of around £40m, a figure Villa would not want to match.
However, the midfielder remains a definite target should he be available at a lower price, having failed to make the matchday squad for any of Chelsea’s Premier League games so far this season.
The 21-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge for a fee of £20m back in August 2022, but with that move failing to materialise, he could return to Villa Park this month.

Chukwuemeka must leave Chelsea
The youngster is overlooked under Enzo Maresca but showed promising signs before his move to Stamford Bridge and a return to Villa Park could help him get his career back on track.
The former Chelsea man Marcel Desailly clearly rates the Austrian-born midfielder very highly, saying: “I like Carney Chukwuemeka because he is like an artist who comes on stage. He has the ball. Now is my moment. Shine. You see the dribble. He is sure of what he is going to do and has a clinical disposition. I love it.”
Although the former Villa player shows great potential, the reported asking price of £40m is too high, given he has yet to prove himself in the Premier League.
Chukwuemeka made just 37 appearances in the competition in total, appearing only 223 minutes throughout the last season. As such, Aston Villa should try to negotiate a lower fee with Chelsea this winter, more in line with the £20m they sold him for in 2022.
