Rory McIlroy couldn’t get into a major season with more confidence.
It is very difficult to go out and win the Grand Slam career, and McIlroy would be one of only six players to do it if he did. It will be interesting to watch, but he will be full of confidence after his 28th victory on the PGA tour.
You never get tired of winning big championships, and McIlroy did it all over the world – he’s a golf superstar.
McIlroy wants a season of five wins – after winning four times last year – and already has two early doors wins. And not just any two wins, two big players and AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM.
Over the last year, McIlroy would see what Scottie Scheffler is doing. That motivated him and made him go “well, if Scottie could do so, I can do it.”
Scheffler gave everyone good whipping last year, and McIlroy would not like it – he would use it as a little motivation. Everyone has to remember what Scheffler did last year and his nine wins around the world, including Masters, FedExcup at the end of the season and the Olympic Games.
We saw that before, in the sense that Justin Thomas had had a big season before, Jordan Spieth did such things when he first cracked on stage. Brooks Koeka had part of dominance. Tiger Woods, of course, has been doing such things for so long every other year of his career.

When you talk about great champions champions, everything is in longevity and Rory has been – for a long time – more than 15 years – and most of it has been in the first 10. He had a long, successful career, and the other guys have to reconcile it.
The player has been Scheffler in the last few years, but he has to do it shortly before we can say he is like McIlroy. It may be more than McIlroy – its best peaks may still be outside.
His first victory on the World Tour of the DP returned in Dubai in 2009 and has had a lot of competitive golf since then, but remains so delighted with his golf.
McIlroy man’s form for masters?
When Rory started his career, he was the whole package. His traveler disappeared a little, but since he was with his beard faxon, he became a better traveler, and Brad did a truly magnificent job with him.
Rory is a very consistent golfer and is a very consistent person. He is a guy at a level and I saw no different from him with players to what I usually see in Mcilroy.
I think his ride was good, his iron plan was good and I think putting it was sensational, but I think his memory is – and he is one of the most respected chips – he seemed a little too bounced.
I am sure that this area will work to enter Masters, but the game was good enough to win. Trump came and couldn’t be in a better shape to enter Augusta National.
Will it do it and win the Grand Slam? I won’t talk about it anymore because every time I talk about it, he doesn’t do it! I’m not saying anything!
