LeBron James He has been the face of NBA throughout the 22-year career and knows the territory that comes with it.
James, 40, said he understood that the players did not want to inherit him because of the media attention that comes with it.
“Why do you want to be the face of the league when all the people who cover our game and talk about our game every day with — on everyone?” James asked journalists after Los Angeles Lakers Wins at Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday.

“That responsibility – it’s just weird. It’s a strange energy than people who … I don’t know.”
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards recently said he didn’t want to be the next NBA face and just wanted to focus on basketball.
“Well, I’m capable of being that guy. But I don’t want to be that guy, say so. I want to be a guy who will just appear and bite and just kill the guys and go home,” Edwards said at the time NBA All-Star weekend in February.

James said he fully understood where Edwards came from.
“(Anthony Edwards) said he didn’t want it. I mean, obviously, I didn’t ask for it, but I knew there was a responsibility for me – not just for my family, my friends, my community and one who would follow my journey throughout my career, not only in Ohi when I started there – but also the whole America and the whole world when I travel across the world,” James said.
“I always took it seriously and took it from the beginning what a professional was about and being a role model is a role model … I feel a ant. I understand. I fully understand. It’s just a strange energy when it comes to it.”

Many NBA fans want Edwards to be the next NBA face after James, Steph CurryAnd Kevin Durant withdraws.
But luckily for Edwards, he doesn’t have to worry about the title because James is still breaking, productive as always at the age of 40.
