Jose Mourinho says Fenerbahce’s 3-1 loss from the Rangers “good result” and insists that Europe League is equal Football news

Jose Mourinho described Fenerbahce’s shock 3-1 loss of the Europa League from the Rangers as a “good result”, but insisted that their last meeting 16 was not over.
Vaclav Cerny’s double after the opener of Cyriel Dessers Rangers brought another famous European victory while Fenerbahce’s undefeated 18 -game ride ended abruptly.
Rangers and temporary chief Barry Ferguson have an advantage in two goals that will return to Ibrox for the second week.
Mourinho aroused a feverish account from his team, but still believes his side has everything to play in Glasgow.
“We were very bad everywhere. I don’t think it’s fair to say that we were very bad in defense, because we were very bad everywhere,” Mourinho said.
“You may be laughing, but for me it was a good result, because the way we made the result could be greater than this.
“I know Jack Butland has made three fantastic savings. I know there is, I mean, punishment, but to talk about the judge after this performance, I don’t think it’s ethical.
“The chances we had to achieve. The dynamics in the middle of the field were not good. In defense, we made incredible mistakes. We never controlled it.
“They defended a lot with a very low block, good and dangerous counterattack. So we deserve the punishment of this result.
“But if someone later wants to ask me, I think it’s over, no, I think it’s over. There’s 90 or 120 minutes to play.
“It’s the only positive thing. And I don’t take any positive from this game. Everything went wrong.
“The only thing I tell them is that you don’t celebrate too much. Because there is a second match. That’s my only advice.”
Ferguson refuses to take away
“No way the tie was over. It was a great result for us tonight, but it’s only half a time.
“I have a great deal of respect for Jose as a manager, as I mentioned earlier that he is one of the best he has ever been, and when you look at his team, he has players who are really dangerous and I can really influence the games, so there is no chance that we have been thinking we have been in the last eight.
“I would be an absolute idiot if I thought, because as I said, I have respect.
“I thought it was a really good performance of my team. They gave me everything I asked for from the beginning of the week.
“We went in a different way from what we used to play. They took a lot of information. One thing I have to give them is merit because they took every thing that I and my coaching staff went to training.
“I thought that tonight, sometimes they moved forward, looked like a real threat. I thought defensively, the guys put their bodies on the line. All in all, it was a great result.
“I told the players. We’ll have a few days of rest because they worked so hard tonight. Then we’ll get back to work because it’s a big game for us next Thursday.”
