“I love that.”
Kevin Nolan returned as no. 1 in the city of Northampton, and enjoys it.
This is his third managerial role, but it followed six years after his second – spending most of his time between work as part of David Moyes coaching staff at West Ham United.
He is still only 42 years old, but he feels that he has perfectly perfected him at the London stadium with a new perspective and wealth of knowledge.
“When you come in as a young manager – as I did in the Leyton Orient and Notts district – you feel like you have experience because you have experience as a player,” he tells Sky Sports.
“But now that I look back after four and a half years under David [Moyes] In West Ham, I feel like I got into this fully prepared for everyone.
“I obviously had this emotional attachment to West Ham, and all we achieved was magnificent.
“So when that was over, it felt a little like,” Where are you from here? “But when this job appeared and you start doing your checks, make sure the owners are well – I was thrilled to go in.
“And so far, fortunately, I would say that it was good. But there is still a lot of work to do.”

Nolan admits that he did not expect to spend so long from the manager when he left the Notts district unexpectedly in 2018. But the circumstances and opportunities took him on his way to East London.
Looking back, time with Moyes was the best thing that could happen to him.
‘I will never forgive the president’
“He offered me a job very soon after the Notts district, but he simply felt too early to go and jump back into it,” Nolan admits.
“At that moment, I lived far from my wife, and she just moved to Nottingham a week when I dismissed myself.
“I will never forgive the president for that, because he promised to be there for years and years.
“Then I was out for a while, and the opportunity at West Ham showed up. I got in touch with David because I knew he was looking for staff, and it all succeeded.
“I learned so much under him and thank him so much for taking me and entrusted me to me as one of his coaches, because I was really unknown to him.”
During this time, the desire for Nolan to be a manager again, one day she never left him.
“There were no questions about that,” he says. “It was only when I returned to him.
“But I didn’t realize how much I learned at West Ham until I got back to him.
“You see some things done by David, and you would question and think if it was okay. Then you would see that it was borne.
“It was how ruthless he was trying to improve things. How much he was involved in all the departments to achieve improvements every day.
“You can never stand and that’s the biggest thing I took from him. Like not 1, you have to be sure that you are always on the ball and that you are at the top of everyone in the club, but that you are there to support and help, and be a friend when someone is in need.
“I took so much into this job.”
The task at Northampton Town, though, is very different from what Nolan had in West Ham.
From the fight to the end of European places, to an attempt to hold a club in the first league.
So far, he has done a good fist. When he arrived just before Christmas, the cobblestone were only two points above the fall – while all sides below them had games in his hand. Now the gap has increased to six.
Nolan knows that short -term survival goals must be achieved before long -term goals are achieved.
“The committee never endured me under pressure to say it, but it’s the pressure I made on myself and what I want to do,” he says.
“For me, it was about entering and trying to change the culture. This is something that they were excited about and that is something that made me excited in exploiting this opportunity.
“I wouldn’t take the job if I didn’t think I could keep them in the league. I believe I can and that we are on the way to do it.
“What we will do is continue to show and continue to perform as we have in recent weeks and continue with positive results.”
