British-American influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan appeared at the police station after returning from the US to Romania.
The brothers registered with power in the capital, Bucharest, in legal formalities to show their compliance with a current criminal investigation.
They are under investigation in Romania due to the formation of organized crime groups, trafficking in humans, minors and money laundering. Andrew also faces accusations of rape and sex with a minor. The couple denies all charges.
After leaving the police station, Andrew, 38, refused to say whether to stay in Romania, but vowed to cleanse his name and there in the UK.
The brothers returned to Romania on Friday almost a month after the unexpected ban on travel was abolished by authorities.
Shortly thereafter, the couple announced that they flew to a private jet in Florida – where they quickly became a focus of a new investigation.
The Florida Attorney General has launched a criminal investigation into the brothers, welcomed by the American National Sexual Excoverty Center, which represents one of Tate’s alleged victims.
The exit of the Romanian brothers led to the speculation that prosecutors feel the political pressure of President Donald Trump – they support. Trump denied any knowledge of their release and Tates rejected the claims of external influence.
Responding to the question of American accusations today, Andrew denied them and said, “I explore everywhere on the planet, because I am one of the most important people on the planet.”
He also said there was a “witch hunt” against him.
The couple was arrested in Romania in late 2022 in the midst of charges of deceiving women and transporting to Romania, where they later sexually used and underwent physical violence.
The couple are also subjects of separate investigations in the UK to allegations of rape and trade in people, which they deny.
The British authorities have secured a warrant for charges of sexual aggression from 2012, which means that the brothers could face extradition after the Romanian procedure concluded.
Last month, the Romanian authorities warned Tates that they had to return to court appearance or risk a “higher guardianship measure”.
Andrew, who is forbidden by several social media platforms for his misogynistic views and hate speech, later told his 10 million followers on X that he spent £ 185,000 (£ 142,800) on a private aircraft to “sign a single piece of paper in Romania.”
The BBC on Monday asked Andrew about his inflammatory tweets after the Southport UK attack last year, in which three girls at the summer holiday dance and yoga class were stabbed to death and falsely claimed to be an attacker an illegal immigrant. Tate called the BBC correspondent “a nobody” before being taken away.
