Afghanistan called by winning the ICC World Cup 2027 in India
Former South African Dale Steyn praised Afghanistan, although they were on the threshold of removal in the current ICC Trophy 2025 ICC champion. Steyn supported Afghanistan to secure a victory at the ICC tournament in the next decade, but added that they should improve their skills and patience.
Afghanistan started a trophy champion campaign with loss in South Africa. However, they secured an exciting victory over England in Lahore. Their last group match against Australia, led by Steve Smith, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday, February 28, was abandoned because of the rain.
Feels like players in Afghanistan are the same – Dale Steyn
Dale Steyn recalled the players in the past improved their skills by playing county or first -class cricket. Steyn said Afghan players showed a lack of patience in their playing and added that they should work to improve their performance.
“Return of the day, many players would go to the crown of the district or first -class cricket to improve their skills and patience,” Espncricinfo Dale Steyn quoted.
“But in today’s fast course world, patience was missing. Even on social networks, people are struggling to watch a two -year clip. It feels as if Afghanistan players are the same when playing their cricket.”
They want things to happen so fast – Dale Steyn
Dale Steyn said the aggressive style of the Afghan team game is exciting to watch, but it works against them. Steyn emphasized that Afghanistan’s cries will benefit from spending more time in four -day games. He believes that if they improve, they have the potential to win the ICC tournament.
“They want things to happen so fast. This ball must be Wickket, there is no patience to build and take WICKET. And sometimes the dough is the same, they hit the first. So many movements are happening in the folds, so they try to hit six and try to start the game,” Steyn added.
“I think many of them play cricket T20 around the world, which is great, it is great for their pockets and it is great for them to learn. But, maybe, maybe spend some time in four -day games, because a one -day cricket is basically a shortened version of the test match. Getting its moments.
“But patience is one of the biggest things that Afghan players need to learn, and when they demolish it, honestly, in the next decade, they could certainly win ICC tournaments,” he continued.
The Afghan trophy campaign shows both potential and inconsistencies
The players of the Afghan team provided the inconsistent campaign of Trophy champion. Ibrahim Zadran scored a great 177 against England to help the team register his first win in the tournament. Sediquelh Atal failed to turn his 85 running into the century against Australia in the final group phase.
The Wickeket-Batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz star had a disappointing tournament, managing only 16 rides in three insertions. Hashmatullah Shahidi skipper scored 60 runs in three stabs on an average of 20 strikes and a rate of 50.
The Afghan team needs a miracle to advance to the semifinals of the tournament. They hope that England will beat South Africa on Saturday, March 1st, a significant margin at the Karachi National Stadium.
