Trump’s steel tariffs could launch a wider trade war because the EU threatens “proportional countermeasures”

The European Union plans to take revenge on the United States because of the new tariffs of steel and aluminum.

“Unjustified tariffs on the EU will not remain unanswered – it will trigger a company and a proportional countermeter,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen Ua statement Late Monday.

The statement comes after US President Donald Trump signed an executive command to impose 25% of tariffs in steel and aluminum. The American Steelmakers shares gathered suddenly on Monday after order.

Trump used an aggressive approach to tariffs early in the second term in the White House. He had already ordered and then postponed the wide tariffs to Canada and Mexico.
