Hezbollah killed leader Nasrallah to be buried in Lebanon on February 2nd | Israel attacks Lebanese news
Hassan Nasrallah received temporary burials because hostility with Israel did not allow the funeral to be taken.
The funeral of the longtime leader of Hezbollah Hassan Nassan will be held on February 2nd, the group said, months after being killed in Israeli air attack in the capital of Lebanon.
Nasrallah, who has been the Secretary General of Hezbollah for more than 30 years, was killed on September 27, as Israel increased the air attacks on Hezbollah’s goals in the southern suburb of Beirut.
His successor Naim Qassem said in a television address on Sunday that Nasrallah was killed “at a time when the circumstances were difficult,” forcing the group to spend a temporary burial for him according to the religious tradition.
Qassem said that the group had now decided to hold a “great funeral procession with a great public presence” for Nasrallah and Hashem Safieddine, another top official of Hezbollah killed in the Israeli strike almost a week after Nasrallah.
He also confirmed for the first time that Safieddine was chosen for Nasrallah’s successor, but was killed before it was published. He said Safieddine would be buried and the title of General Secretary.
Nasrallah will be buried on Beirut’s outskirts “in the country of the country we chose between the old and new airport roads”, while Safieddine will be buried in his hometown of Deir Qanoun in southern Lebanon, he said.
On October 29, Hezbollah announced that Qassem, a deputy leader of the group, was elected head after the killings of many major military commanders of the group threw a group into a mess.
The consent of the fire agreed at the end of November ended with hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel and set a 60-day deadline for Israeli troops to withdraw from South Lebanon, Hezbollah, to remove their fighters and weapons from the area and Lebanese troops to schedule there.
This deadline was extended last month until February 18th. Israel is accused of violating the trial conditions by refusing to leave Lebanon and continue to carry out occasional air attacks in some parts of the country. Israel himself accuses Hezbollah of violating the terms of tribute.
Hezbollah faced one of its biggest challenges after the Iranian group supported the front against Israel to alleviate the pressure on its ally Hamas in Gaza in October 2023. The group suffered losses after several months of cross -border fighting and Israeli attacks that were targeting the leading figure of the group.
