William Nylander shares his thoughts on the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 3-game winning streak following their win over the Lightning
Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander shared his thoughts on the team’s three-game winning streak following their impressive 5-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday.
After a tough stretch in which they lost three straight games, the Leafs have regained their winning form, a trend highlighted by their performance against the Lightning.
Nylander praised goaltender Joseph Woll, who made 27 saves, crediting his key saves that helped maintain the Maple Leafs’ lead (starts 9:10 onwards):
“I thought we were just creating. Woll played great,” William Nylander said. “He made some big saves (earlier in the game) to keep us in the lead.”
Nylander also played a key role, increasing the Toronto Maple Leafs’ lead to 2-0 at 13:45 of the second period. Looking back on his goal, he credited the strong defensive play of his teammates.
“Yeah, just, I mean, great defensive play there by Stevie and Mo, and then we’re able to break through it and get some separation,” Nylander said.
When asked about the Maple Leafs’ three-game winning streak, William Nylander gave a succinct answer:
“It doesn’t matter,” he added.
With their latest win, the Toronto Maple Leafs improved to 30-16-2 and are five points ahead of the Florida Panthers atop the Atlantic Division.
The Leafs will continue their home run when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday. The puck drops at 7:30 PM ET.
