Series to remember: Jaiswal’s consistent brilliance
Jaiswal’s brilliant knock in Sydney is the latest chapter in what has been a breakthrough for the 23-year-old. Becoming India’s leading run-scorer, Jaiswal amassed 369 runs at an impressive average of 46.13. His innings spans a century and two half-centuries, highlighting his ability to adapt to different situations and match conditions. His counter-attacking approach, especially against Australia’s ferocious attack, has been a hallmark of his performances, making him a standout player in BGT.
Indian bowlers decimated Australia’s line-up
India’s bowlers played a key role in laying the foundation for the team’s dominance, delivering a relentless performance to bowl Australia out for a modest 181. Resuming at a precarious 9/1, Australia struggled to find any rhythm against a disciplined Indian attack. Jasprit Bumrah set the tone early, dismissing Marnus Labuschagne for just 2 runs with a crisp shot that found the edge. Mohammed Siraj soon joined the fraycounting Sam Konstas, who fell for 22 after a promising start.
Australia’s middle order, with Travis Head and Steve Smith, tried to stabilize the innings but did not have much success. Head’s struggles against India continued after he was dismissed for 4, while Smith managed 33 before being undone by Bumrah’s brilliance. Alex Carey and Beau Webster they put up a brief resistance with 41 partnerships, but their efforts were short-lived. Prasidh Krishnaand ended Carey’s vigil, and Nitish Kumar Reddy struck twice in quick succession, removing Pat Cummins and Starc. Siraj delivered the final blow, cleaning up Scott Boland to close the Australian innings and leave India with a crucial lead.
