Van Jones scolds Schumer for ‘stupid’ claim Dems didn’t mislead Biden
CNN commentator and former Obama adviser Van Jones spoke Sen. Chuck Schumer, DN.Y.on Monday for arguing that Democrats did not mislead the public about President Biden’s ability to serve.
“That’s stupid. Look, obviously Biden was in bad shape, and I was surprised,” Jones said. “But there were people close to me who must have known better. Look, obviously, you know, a lot was known and not spoken and not shared. Now it’s leaking all the time anyway. So, look, I In order to have some credibility and integrity, people need to stop having fun, Schumer’s nose is going to grow if he keeps saying things like that.”
NBC News’ Kristen Welker confronted Schumer on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” with a video of the senator talking about Biden last February. In the tape, Schumer said, “His mental acuity is great. He’s fine. He’s as good as he’s been in years. All this right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity has gone down is wrong.” He insisted Sunday that Democrats had not misled anyone about Biden’s health.

On Monday night, CNN anchor Abby Phillip said the second question asked of Schumer was Fr could Biden have served another four years, to which the senator did not respond, was “incredibly significant.” Other CNN participants agreed.
“We’ve also seen Joe Biden, and we’ve seen Democrats everywhere defending him and openly telling us yes he was super strong the same as when he came in,” said SE Cupp. “That’s a fallacy.”
“I think they wanted to lose anyway. But admit it and move on. If you keep going on TV and talking like this about Van, you’ll lose all credibility next time,” she added.
CNN political commentator Scott Jennings noted that an admission of a cover-up of Biden’s health would be an admission of one of the “biggest cover-ups in modern American political history.”

“Democratic politicians lied. Democratic pundits lied. A lot of people who cover the White House looked away or believed the absolute bullshit being fed by the White House press secretary,” Jennings said. “To admit it now would be to say, ‘you know what, America, boy, we tried to pull the wool over your eyes and you didn’t take it.’ I guess I understand why to continue the charade now, to some extent because to admit it now would be to admit this huge, huge cover-up.”
Ashley Allison, who worked for the Biden-Harris campaign, said this during a panel discussion the June debate it was very telling, but it suggested that the president may have good days and bad days.

Schumer told Welker on Sunday: “Let’s look at President Biden. He’s had an incredible record. The legislation that we’ve passed, one of the most significant pieces of legislation since Lyndon Johnson’s great society, putting in 235 justices, a record, and he’s a patriot . . . He’s a great guy, and when he resigned, he did it himself because he thought it was better, not only for the Democratic Party, but for America, and he should be applauded.”
Asked if Biden could have served four more years, Schumer said, “Well, I’m not going to speculate. Like I said, I think his record is stellar and he’s going to go down in history as a truly outstanding president.”
