Tesla and CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk, Target CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, NBC News reported on Tuesday.
They will sit on a platform near government officials and elected leaders, according to a person familiar with the inauguration planning who spoke to NBC News.
The prominent presence of several tech giants and billionaires at Trump’s inauguration signals how quickly tech industry leadership has warmed to Trump as he takes on his second term as president.
During Trump’s first term, Bezos regularly clashed with the president over his ownership of The Washington Post, Amazon’s relationship with the USPS and how much tax the tech company paid. Zuckerberg has also traded criticism with Trump, particularly over immigration and misinformation.
But as Trump takes office for a second term, the tech industry is contributed to his inaugural fund and several CEOs praised Trump and sent good wishes to his administration.
Musk joined the Trump administration in a role overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency, a new body that wants to find government waste and reduce it. He also spent time with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Amazon and Meta have they contributed one million dollars each to Trump’s inaugural fund. Google also contributed $1 million, CNBC reported last week. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman contributed $1 million, as did Apple CEO Tim Cook, according to a Axios report which the technology company did not comment on.
Representatives for Musk, Zuckerberg and Bezos did not immediately comment to NBC News.
