President-elect Donald Trump will declare a national energy emergency after his inauguration on Monday to lower energy costs, a new White House official told reporters.
“That national energy emergency will unlock a number of different authorities that will allow our country to rebuild quickly, produce more natural resources, create jobs, create prosperity and strengthen our country’s national security,” the official said, without specifying which powers would be used newly elected president.
Trump is also poised to sign an executive order to jump-start energy production in Alaska, the official said.
