Tottenham predicted the line-up against Leicester
Have Tottenham entered the relegation zone with six points?
Ange Postecoglou’s side are down to the bare bones and it took a huge effort to topple Germany’s 15th-best side in the Europa League on Thursday. A 3-2 win over Hoffenheim it was Spurs’ third triumph since Christmas, and they were without a Premier League win since they beat Russell Martin’s Southampton in mid-December.
All teenagers Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall could do was slump to the pitch after Tottenham’s success became official on Thursday night, illustrating the exhaustion currently prevailing in the Lilywhite camp.
But they have to go again. Leicester are in disarray despite a change of manager and are ripe for the picking this weekend. Here’s how Tottenham could line up when the Foxes come to town on Sunday.
GK: Antonin Kinsky – Arrival in January cannot yet appear in European leagueand although Brandon Austin has performed well in his two appearances, Kinsky should be back on Sunday.
RB: Pedro Porro – Teams continue to find success with Porro at his side, but the Spaniard is often overworked. He needs constant support. The former Sporting CP full-back showed his worth on the ball at the start of Thursday’s win.
CB: Radu Dragušin – Cristian Romero is not yet ready to return to action, so Dragušin will continue his streak in the team on Sunday. Jamie Vardy will love this matchup.
CB: Ben Davies – Despite his experience at left-back, Davies was almost exclusively used in the center of Postecoglou’s defence.
LB: Grandpa Spence – Gray needs rest and the manager will be hoping the impressive Spence can overcome his knocks to feature against Leicester.
CM: Rodrigo Bentancur – There was some rustiness in possession but Bentancur offered plenty of industry at the base of the Spurs midfield in midweek. With Yves Bissouma doubtful, the Uruguayan should get the nod again.
CM: Lucas Bergvall – Bergvall has quickly established himself as an instrumental figure in the middle of the park and will be looking to continue his great form this weekend.
CM: James Maddison – Tottenham longed Maddison step up as he did in the first 45 minutes on Thursday. The Englishman has enjoyed a productive season but has not been outstanding, and Ange is demanding that Maddison take Sunday’s game by the scruff of the neck.
RW: Dejan Kulusevski – Kulusevski was great this term, but he could use a day off. However, with Spurs’ attacking options scarce, Ange has no choice but to stick with the Swede on the right.
ST: Richarlison – The Brazilian started well against Hoffenheim and Tottenham will need six weeks for Richarlison to be fit, while Dominic Solanke is out.
LW: Son Heung-min – There wasn’t much to like about Son’s midweek results, but his two goals, the second of which was a vintage strike, separated the two teams. Moments will do for Spurs at this point.
