AC Milan are trying to revive their fortunes after the appointment of Conceicao
AC Milan quickly appointed a successor to Paulo Fonseca, and Sergio Conceicao took over at the San Siro.
Fonseca was sacked this morning as expected after hinting that his tenure was over following last night’s 1-1 draw with Roma.
That result left Milan in eighth place in the Serie A table, 14 points behind joint leaders Atalanta and Napoli.

Fonseca managed Milan for a total of 24 games, winning 12, the highlight being a 3-1 win against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The club decided to act on reports suggesting Fonseca was to receive a reduced payment if he was sacked within six months of his appointment.
Milan hopes that his fellow Portuguese Conceicao will do better.
Serie A experience
The former midfielder has extensive experience in Serie A having played for Lazio, Parma and Inter. He resigned as Porto boss in June after seven years at the helm.
During his time at the Estadio do Dragao, he led Porto to three Primeira Liga titles as well as four Taco de Portugal crowns.
Milan’s statement read: “AC Milan announces that Sérgio Paulo Marceneiro da Conceição has been appointed head coach of the men’s first team until June 30, 2026.
“The club extends a warm welcome to Sérgio and his staff, wishing them a successful and fulfilling journey.”
