Postecoglou is 15th in the table as a result, closer to the relegation zone than places in the European qualifiers, and that is quite unacceptable. They face Hoffenheim in the Europa League on Thursday, with Leicester City soon after, while Postecoglou looks set for a crucial week at N17.

Off the field, President Daniel Levytechnical director Johan Lange and Spurs’ recruitment team are trying to get Postecoglou more additions in several key areas. 12.5 million pounds goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky remains their only January signing, something the north London club’s hierarchy will be keen to change quickly.

Tottenham are reportedly still on the hunt for a new striker after missing out on a loan move for PSG renegade Randal Kolo Muani, who opted to join Serie A heavyweights Juventus instead.

Spurs were in discussions last week about Kolo Muanibut they have been beaten to the Frenchman’s signature by Thiago Motta, as attention now turns to who they could bring in as an alternative before February 3.

According to GiveMeSport and other media sources, the Lyon winger Rayan Cherki could be an option for Tottenhamand it is believed he will be allowed to leave for a bargain price of around £25m.

They are also looking to strengthen their backline, with Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu believed to be a serious transfer target.

GiveMeSport has another update on Levy and Lange’s transfer plans, including the exciting Denmark international.

GMS write it “influential” people at Tottenham are trying to beat Man United to the signing of Dorguand they are actively working on a deal for the 20-year-old behind closed doors.

Destiny Udogie is still out with a hamstring injury, exposing their lack of depth behind the former Udinese sensation, with Dorga seen by many as a potential alternative to the Italian.

Dorgu’s price tag is around £34m, and according to comments from Lecce sporting director Pantaleo Corvino, the defender could be worth every penny.

“He is a potential champion. Correction: he is a champion,” Corvino said. “Whether he’s a full-back or a winger, he runs for the three, has an eye for goal and possesses a motor that no one else can match.”

It is worth noting that the versatile defender is one of Lecce’s stars, both offensively and defensively. According to WhoScoredDorgu is averaging his joint second offense while also attempting his second highest shot rate at 90 behind forward Nikola Krstovic.
