Tottenham have now made contact to sign a new £15m-a-year international deal for Ange

Tottenham now they have started to explore a contract to sign a new striker Ange Postecoglou this month as they look to strengthen their ranks after a disappointing first half Premier League campaign, according to a new report.

Tottenham need reinforcements

With injuries ravaging him, Tottenham need more signings this January. They have already started strongly, signing goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky in a £12.5m deal from Slavia Prague, with the Czech shot-stopper keeping two clean sheets in his first two appearances for Spurs.

However, there are still gaps in the composition. Centre-back remains a concern following injuries to Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, although the performances of Archie Gray have eased those concerns somewhat.

Elsewhere there are problems in attack. Despite scoring the second highest number of goals in the Premier League this season, some of their strikers remain unhappy. Timo Werner has yet to hit the back of the net this season, while Heung Min-Son has scored just five goals in the top flight, not enough for his usual high standards.

Long-term injuries to both Richarlison and Wilson Odobert have also left Spurs light in attack, forcing Dejan Kulusevski to play in wide areas more often than Postecoglou would seemingly like, with his long-term future likely to be in the center of midfield.

With that in mind, a new striker appears to be needed for the second half of the campaign, and now Spurs appear to be trying to land him.

Tottenham are investigating a shock move for the England international

Now, a new report from the Independent has claimed that Spurs are one of two English sides interested in signing Marcus Rashford this month, and the Manchester United renegade is expected to leave. The Englishman has been sidelined since the arrival of Ruben Amorim, despite scoring the first goal of the former Sporting CP coach’s regime at Old Trafford.

As a result, a move away in January looks likely as the Red Devils attempt to move his £15m annual salary off their books at least temporarily, although it is suggested that “any move this January will almost certainly be a loan” rather than a temporary exit.

And after Spurs were linked with Rashford at the weekendthis new report claims there have been “informal talks” about a potential move to north London, where he would be a welcome upgrade to Postecoglou’s squad.

He could be a cheap addition to Postecoglou’s squad.

However, there are also talks of a move away from England for Rashford, a transfer which is claimed to be “much more likely” than a move to another Premier League team between now and the end of the month. Although he has struggled for form this season, his speed, directness and powerful shot make him a dangerous opponent, as explained former Barcelona coach Xavi when his side faced him two years ago.

“He’s very, very dangerous in transition so, yes, we have to watch all of them, but especially Rashford,” he said of the Manchester United squad. “He’s one of the most dangerous players in Europe now, yes. He’s very fast, he’s very good dribbling in one-on-one play.”

Having missed it so far this season thanks to Son’s form and injuries elsewhere, it’s little surprise to see Tottenham exploring a shock move, even if it’s unlikely.
