Injuries to key players have severely handicapped Postecoglou this term, with 10 senior stars currently sidelined, but there are also serious question marks surrounding the Australian’s open style of play and tendency to concede goals.
This was evident in their latest defeat, a 3-2 loss to Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, where they trailed 3-0 at half-time. Calls for Postecoglou’s dismissal have intensified after Spurs’ defeat on Merseyside and reports suggest that Tottenham have a shortlist of potential managerial targets in case they decide to separate.

However, for now it appears that the 59-year-old retains the support of his club’s management.
“The Tottenham hierarchy, as I understand it, still support Ange Postecoglou,” he said David Ornstein on NBC Sports this week.
“They have faith in him to turn this around. Of course, the results have been way below expectations and they feel they should have won more games than they lost. But that doesn’t mean Ange Postecoglou is on the brink or there’s nothing to go around.
“I think they still support him and their reasons for doing so will mainly come down to the injuries he’s suffered.”
Tottenham face a crucial return to Europe against Hoffenheim on Thursday, along with an all-important Carabao Cup semi-final second leg away to Liverpool soon after, and those games could go a long way in determining whether the chairman Daniel Levy he is sticking with the former Celtic boss for the long term.
Tottenham will consider Andoni Iraola if they sack Postecoglou
According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are indeed doing their due diligence on possible future replacements for Postecoglou should they eventually decide to offload him.
One of their possible targets is the Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraolawho led the Cherries through the incredible 2024/2025 season. without their former star striker Dominic Solanke, who left for Tottenham last summer.
High-flying Bournemouth are serious contenders to qualify for Europe and are even just three points off a Champions League spot, with Iraola’s excellent campaign in a run that is turning heads at N17.

The Spurs hierarchy are said to be real admirers of Iraola, who has also been widely praised for his “impressive” work at Bournemouth over the past two seasons.
“It’s incredibly impressive and kudos to Iraola,” said the former Man City defender Nedum Onuoha on the BBC’s Planet Premier League podcast.
Meanwhile, Como manager Cesc Fabregas added:
“I remember going to see [Radamel] Falcao is in Madrid one day and he told me to come watch training [with Iraola’s Rayo Vallecano side],” Fabregas said.
“I went there and I really liked it. I really liked the session, I saw exactly what he was trying to do.
“He communicates very well with the players. He has a really good structure. I liked the training set-up, the format in which he builds it from lower intensity to higher and the concept he gave the players.”
