Linda McMahon, a former World Wrestling Enterinment (WWE), was in the official oath to swear as the next education secretary under the President Donald Trumpwhich seeks to “immediately” close the department during its term.
Senate McMahon confirmed that on Monday night he was led by the Ministry of Education 51-45, along the party, the last obstacle of her confirmation procedure.
McMahon swore shortly after the vote and will begin his official duties on Tuesday morning.
“I am deeply grateful to President Trump for confidence in me to serve in his cabinet as a secretary for education. I am ready to run the department in this transformation time and accept the challenge to improve the educational system for more than 100 million children and students who deserve better,” McMahon said in a statement after being confirmed.

“Education is a question determined by our national success and preparing American workers to win in the future. Each decision made in the department will be guided by dedication to support meaningful learning and strengthen our most important stakeholders: students, families and teachers,” McMahon added. “We will enable states and fourth to speak more in what works on the grounds for students instead of bureaucratic edits of Washington, DC”
Trump said he wanted to close the education department, and McMahon said in a letter to Democratic legislators that he supported his position on the matter.

“President Trump believes that a bureaucracy in Washington should be abolished so that we can return education to the state, where it belongs. I wholeheartedly support and agree with this mission,” “ In February, McMahon wrote to members of the Senate Health, Education, Work and Pension (HELP).
McMahon was a former WWE chief, who founded with her husband Vince McMahon.

The secretary also performed the duty of the administrator of the SMEs Association (SBA) during Trump’s first term.
