There is a fear in no corporation whenever the words “restructured”, “merging”, “acquisition” or “hostile takeover” expanded through the office. Employees work on their CVs, whisper about projected dismissals and evaluate their capabilities.
We see that the same phenomenon takes place in the capital of our country. Ever since he took over last month, President Donald Trump has promised to fly through the federal departments to restore waste, reduce ideological programs and The return of a fiscal reason to American management. Although the Republican presidents have long promised to “reduce the size of the government”, they usually failed – bureaucracy always wins. This time he could be different.
The other Trump administration was surprisingly aggressive in its efforts to reform the federal agency, including the controlled demolition of the USAID -a brave redemption plan for government employees. And Elon Musk, The leader of the President’s Department for the Efficiency of the Government, is a long result of successful and sometimes extreme, cost reduction. When Musk took over Twitter, for example, he fired 80% of employees and at the same time managed to improve the product and increase its profitability.
The next phase of conflict between Trump and bureaucracy looks like Department of Education, which the president correctly identified as the focal point of leftist ideologies. Almost every Republican presidential candidate has promised or will reduce or abolish the department since 1980, but his budget has just increased.
If Trump’s administration will really disassemble the education department, then it must understand the best way to do it. (Jose Luis Magana)
When Trump made the same promise of the campaign last year, I was skeptical. But Musk changes the calculation: a technological entrepreneur has already directed USAID and, as they can confirm from their own reporting, has shipped his dog engineers to explore Doe. Although the department, as a public subject, does not have the same type of balance as a corporation, it still has to be separated and eventually extinguished.
What is the best way to continue? The administration must first understand that the Department of Education is managed by three basic activities: loans and scholarships of students; K-12 Financing; and ideological production, which includes a number of programs, support, initiatives for civil rights and non -governmental organizations of third parties that create left -wing content to encourage local schools. It is not possible or desirable to exclude all three functions at the same time. Instead, the candidate for the education of Linda McMahon’s education, in partnership with male and dog, should deal with each separately.
First, the department should dismiss all the loans and scholarships at the faculties independent financial entity. The Federal Government is currently leasing $ 1.6 billion dollars of student loans and issues an additional $ 110 billion in student assistance each year. This is a huge portfolio that will require a loyal set of administrator, risk and cost analysts. These professionals should reform a student-loan portfolio, moving as much as possible to the private market and limiting the total number of loans, which is partly responsible for the administrative inflammation and crisis of debt for the student.
Secondly, the administration, in cooperation with Congress, should block funding programs for the K-12 State Education Department. The department sends about $ 100 billion each year to state governments and local school districts across the country, often with hard limitations and drainthic ideological conditions.
For example, Biden’s administration tried to use this federal liked to push the race and gender policy into local school districts. Instead of legitimizing the forced power of the department, the administration should simply increase all expenses of the K-12 department, divide with the state population and release the result to each country with several or no wires. States can continue to use this financing for meals, low -income schools and special education, but they will have a flexibility in a way that best meets their local needs.
Third, Trump has to close centers for ideological production of the Department of Education and abolish the employment of the bureaucrats that manage them. The department maintains a spacious network of ideological centers through its research programs, as well as a huge series of non -governmental organizations, which survive in the financing of the departments and promote left -wing activism of identity.

These groups have become foci of progressive identity policy policies, promoting the theories of “systemic racism” and the idea that men can turn into women. Such activities do not serve the public good and do not deserve a public subsidy, especially under the conservative president who has promised to end the critical theory of race and gender ideology in the Federal Government.
Likewise, the Civic Rights Office of the Department of Education, although allegedly served a noble purpose, was used as a frame to promote leftist ideologies. The basic functions of civil rights can be easily transplanted to the Ministry of Justice, where the administration can provide necessary control without the left ideologues of the Department of Education and the apparatus for civil rights.
Although the department, as a public subject, does not have the same type of balance as a corporation, it still has to be separated and eventually extinguished.
There is an open question about authority. Some members of the Trump inner circle believe that the President may disassemble the Ministry of Education exclusively by executive actions, as they did with the USAID. However, it is unlikely that the Ministry of Education can be terminated without a particular legislation or, at the very least, the agreement of the Congress for Delegating the Bodies of Reorganization to the President, as it was regular between 1932 and 1984.

In the adoption of any bold reforms, public support is crucial consideration. In order to maintain the approval of Americans, Trump’s administration must explain that students will continue to be able to receive loans, K-12 schools will continue to receive funds for special education programs, and civil rights will continue to be protected by the Ministry of Justice. This ensures that the argument can focus on the removal of deeply unpopular and divided leftist ideologies, as much as Musk has already done with the USAID.
It’s time now. The president is in his first 100 days, and the main changes are best brought when the administration enjoys high public approval. And musk understands that the hesitation signals weakness. Abolish the education department – and do not look back.
