The comedian ended her ‘Stockholm syndrome’ with the left, says she has become a ‘party of censorship’
Stand-up comedian Whitney Cummings has had enough of the left, accusing them of abandoning their principles and lashing out at those who resent her calling out liberals in her latest public appearances.
in latest episode of her “Good for You” podcast, Cummings criticized the political left, saying that end of the political spectrum has become hypocritical and censorious in recent years.
“I’ve always considered myself a pretty liberal person,” Cummings said, “but I don’t think the left is as liberal as it used to be. It’s like the left has become the party of censorship.”

Comedian said she needs to start talking about the problems on her side of the political aisle.
“It’s just wild to me that we’re in a time where if you’re on the left and you don’t criticize your party, how much do you even care about your party? You know what I mean? It’s like what’s happening on the left — I had to to say, I finally snapped,” she said.
Cummings continued, characterizing her previous support for the left as “Stockholm syndrome.” She added her realization that “if you love your party, you have to be able to criticize it, you know? And I don’t really take sides.”
The comic then joked about liberal hypocrisy, saying, “‘My body, my choice, but you have to take this vaccine’ and ‘My body, my choice, the pro-choice party, but you have no choice in your candidate.'”

“I’m not an expert on politics, which is why I’ve always said I don’t do it, but I’m an expert on hypocrisy, okay? I was raised by hypocrites, I dated them, and I recognize hypocrisy when I see it,” she added.
Cummings’ remarks were prompted by liberal critics who criticized her recent live appearance on CNN New Year’s specialwhere she mocked the liberal media and the way the Democratic Party is treating President Biden and the 2024 election while speaking with show hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper.
She even ripped the network that hosted her during the broadcast, joking that the crowd of 3,000 people who attend her stand-up shows is the size of the audience for CNN.

Cummings emphasized in the podcast that she was motivated by calling out blatant hypocrisy, not to slam the left or score political points. She added: “For me, I didn’t think I was being political, you know? I thought I was just pointing out the hypocrisy on all sides.”
Responding to a specific complaint that she didn’t attack Trump in her New Year’s monologue, she said: “Because it’s a funny thing to do. Everybody’s been doing it and to do it on CNN, it’s like, it’s home field advantage, cheap shot, hack – there is nothing risky or dangerous about it.”
