The £15,000-a-week Celtic player that Rodgers loves is now being targeted by English clubs


“Incredibly” Celtic the player they love Brendan Rodgers could leave the club in what remains of this transfer window, as English clubs are circling with interest, according to a recent report.

Despite sitting pretty on top Scottish PremiershipRodgers and co. are looking to increase the quality of the squad this month, while continuing to compete domestically and in Europe. There are still a few faces set to arrive at Celtic Park, but they are working on potential deals this transfer window in the hope of adding to their squad.

One player they are interested in signing is Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaardenwhich they have been keeping an eye on for more than a year. But a move for the striker will only happen if the current Celtic striker leaves the club.

The Celtic defender is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

Kvistgaarden is not the only striker Celtic are eyeing, as reports have emerged that the Hoops are in talks to sign the Sarpsborg winger Sondre Orjasaeter. Talks are believed to be underway over a potential transfer, as Rodgers looks to bolster his attacking options. But they are not the only party interested in Orjasaeter, as teams from France and Italy are also considering signing the player, and so far no official offer has arrived from the Scottish side.

As well as looking to add to the squad, Celtic and Rodgers could battle to keep hold of one of their best players, as Kyoga Furuhashi’s future in Glasgow remains in doubtwhile MLS side Atlanta United continue to circulate with interest.

Greg Taylor is now a target of English clubs

But Kyogo is not the only player who could leave the Hoops this month, as according to Hull Live, Hull City and Queens Park Rangers are interested in signing Greg Taylor from Parkhead.

Taylor, who is on a weekly salary of £15,000 in Celtic Park, he has been in the Scottish team since September 2019, when he came from Kilmarnock. The left-back moved to Parkhead, despite playing in Rangers’ academy as a youngster. Taylor was an impressive player for Kilmarnock and continued that for the Hoops, becoming a key player for them and Rodgers at left-back.

Taylor has started 15 of the 17 league games he has played this season, but as Celtic move closer to signing Kieran Tierney, he could be allowed to leave this transfer window, with Hull Live reporting that Hull City are considering a move for the defender to strengthen own capabilities.

The Tigers have identified Taylor as a potential target, but they are not the only ones, as QPR are also interested in signing the defender, as are Turkey’s Trabzonspor and Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb. The 27-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has been allowed to speak to other clubs about his long-term future.

The defender remains in talks with Celtic over a new deal as he has a positive relationship with Rodgers, who described the player as “incredibly“, but so far these talks have not ended yet.
