Thai movement of pro-democracy under the guidance of young people torn between hope and disappointment

In 2020, at the height of the Coid-19 pandemi, hundreds of thousands of students took place on the streets of the Thai capital of Bangkok, which led to huge demonstrations and an unprecedented protest movement in “Smile Land”. These young Thais defied the largest taboos in the kingdom, calling for a monarchy reform. Five years later, some protesters are still fighting for more democracy. Others, discerned heavy burglaries, lost hope of changing their country’s politics.
