Sheffield Wednesday could sign the “unbelievable” promotion of Gassama this month

Much like Darren Moore before him, Danny Rohl found out the hard way that the working relationship with Sheffield Wednesday President Dejphon Chansiri can become broken.

The German boss won’t be overly pleased with the Owls’ lack of transfer activity, cursing his side’s luck to have Shea Charles recalled by Southampton, as officially confirmed by Chansiri on fire five-hour fan forum.

However, with new developments suggesting that talks between Rohl and Chansiri had taken place, it would mean the South Yorkshire outfit could be busy in the final two weeks of the transfer window.

The 35-year-old could wish for more attacking reinforcements, with Josh Windass emerging as the Owls’ top goalscorer while the rest of the forwards sadly fade into the background.

As it was widely reported this month, Rohl’s side are one of a host of EFL clubs sniffing around Aston Villa ace Louie Barry, with a new twist that could potentially boost the Owls’ chances of landing the electric striker.

Indeed, according to the report from Football Insider, Villa’s preference is for Barry to be moved to the Championship club on loan this month amid long-distance interest in the form of Celtic, with Wednesday potentially seeing the 21-year-old as the ideal player to bring in to help Windass.

After all, Barry compiled his own catalog of audacious strikes playing for Stockport County in League One before his recall, with one curling effort notably just one taste of his astonishing ability. 15 goals from 23 league appearances.

If Barry were to enter the building as a signature move, he would no doubt see the hot-and-cold Djeidi Gassama drop out of the first team altogether, with the number 41 not always the sharpest.

Looking at the table above, Wednesday’s goal has completely undone Gassama in terms of their numbers in the EFL, with Barry far more willing to take risks to catch the opposition keeper.

On the contrary, his counterpart too often retreats into his shell on the left, with 12 fewer goals to his name despite one more appearance.
