Britain’s defense secretary warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that “we will not shy away from strong action” after he told parliament that a Russian spy ship had been operating in UK waters this week.
John Healey said the warship followed the Russian spy ship Yantar in the English Channel after it wandered over critical undersea infrastructure.
AND Royal Navy the submarine surfaced near Yantar to warn that its every move was being watched, Healey said.
“My message to President Putin is clear,” Healy told MPs in the House of Commons on Wednesday.
“We know what you are doing and we will not shy away from tough measures to protect Britain.”
“We will continue to call out the malign activity directed by Putin, crushing Russia’s shadow fleet,” he said.
