Signing a new centre-back will be very high on the list, if not the priority, as the club is going through a back-line injury crisis with Leon Balogun, John Souttar, Neraysho Kasanwirjo and James Tavernier currently out injured.
There have been reports that the Gers are interested in signing him Jonny Evans from Manchester United. The board are keen to bring the Northern Irishman to Ibrox before the transfer window closes, but Clement is said to be wary of a move for Evans, given his age, and would like the club to bring in a younger option.
In addition to watching Evans, the Rangers are also interested in signing him Grant Hanley from Norwich City and Nikola Katićwho played for the club before. Hanley has started just one league game for the Canaries this season and could therefore be available for a move this month. Meanwhile, Katic reportedly wants to return to Rangers, and there are discussions about a possible return.

Getting in will be a priority for Clement this month, but an exit could also be on the cards for the Gers, according to Yenicag Gazetesi, as reported by Sport Witness. Besiktas are interested in signing Ridvan Yilmaz from Rangers.
The 23-year-old has been in the Scottish team since July 2022, when he joined from the Turkish club. The left back, who can also play as a left winger, has been in and out of the Rangers starting 11 since joining the club. He played 22 times in the Scottish Premiership last season, scoring one goal and registering one assist.
Yilmaz has played 10 league games so far in this 2024/25 season, but only five have been starts, the latest was in Sunday’s 3-3 draw with Hibernian. Despite being called back into the starting XI and under contract until 2027, Rangers are considering releasing him this month.
This report states that Besiktas are again showing interest in Yilmaz, as they were also interested in him in the summer but failed to agree a deal with Rangers. The Turkish side continue to monitor the left-back, with the Gers willing to let Yilmaz leave in this transfer window, with that option likely to be a loan. There is no indication that talks between the two clubs have started, but they could be the ones that will accelerate as the transfer window progresses.
