George Garton’s screamer dashes Sydney Sixers’ hopes
The thirteenth over of the Sixers’ innings witnessed Garton’s breathtaking fielding that left the crowd in awe. Tom Andrews hit Henriques, and the ball was a little short and far from the goal. Henriques, looking to capitalize on the delivery, tried to back-foot it but sent the ball high and left of cover. It was traveling at high speed and seemed destined to land at the border. However, Garton lunged to the left, diving with both hands, but miraculously managed to catch it with one hand. The incredible catch not only stopped Henriques’ knock at 29 runs (from 30 balls) but also dealt a major blow to the Sixers’ chase.

Andrews was a key figure with the ball, claiming two crucial wickets in the same over. After dropping Henriques, Andrews struck again for the takedown Lachlan Shaw for the duck. The delivery was slower and wider, prompting Shaw to lean forward for the ride. However, he misjudged and hit the Thunder captain with a simple catch David Warner on the cover. Warner made no mistake and Shaw was sent packing for the golden duck. The Sixers were now in deep trouble, with two wickets falling in quick succession, leaving them with a lot of work to do.

Garton shines again with a vital wicket
Garton, who had already impressed with his fielding, appeared with the ball in the 19th over for another important wicket. This time, it was Ben Dwarshuis which is excellently caught Hugh Weibgen. Garton bowled a slower ball, using the change of pace to fool Dwarshuis. The ball was pushed away from Dwarshuis’ strike zone and he reached for the shot, but misjudged it and sent the ball high into the air. Weibgen, stationed at deep mid-wicket, ran forward, dived and took the catch with both hands. It was a fantastic stretch of play and Garton claimed his first wicket of the night, sending Dwarshuis back for 30 runs (from 20 balls).
