Pereira ‘proud of the players’ despite the first defeat
Wolves manager Vitor Pereira says he was proud of his players’ effort despite seeing them lose for the first time when Nottingham Forest won 3-0 at Molineux.
Wolves were without key striker Matheus Cunha and remain struggling in the Premier League in 17th place after goals from Morgan Gibbs-White, Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi earned Forest the points.
But Pereira’s side looked sharp in the first half, with striker Jorgen Strand Larsen denied by a fine goal-line clearance and Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels making a couple of great saves.

Wolves had 13 attempts on goal with six on target – both more than their clinical visitors – as they failed to score at home for the first time since last April.
Pereira said: “I think we did what was possible.
“This week we faced a lot of problems, different problems, injury problems. In the end, we played with 11 male and 11 female players who gave everything for another result.
“I am happy with the players, I am proud of them because they tried everything. I can’t tell anyone that they didn’t run, they didn’t fight, they didn’t do their best.
“In the end, 3-0 is a difficult result, but we have to understand why it happened and if you understand why it happened, we know what we have to work on to improve this.”
Next up for Wolves is an FA Cup trip to face Bristol City on Saturday, before a midweek trip to Newcastle in the Premier League.
