Newcastle have joined the race to sign the £16m winger, who plays in Spain’s second division

Newcastle have now joined the race to land an exciting young talent to star in Spain’s second tier, a new report has revealed, although they could have a fight for their man.

Newcastle want signings

It’s no secret that Eddie Howe is looking to strengthen his ranks, despite Newcastle being in fifth place Premier League and with one leg in the Carabao Cup final.

The Magpies have chased the defender for at least two transfer windows, after bids for Marco Guehi were rejected in the summer and now reportedly one of three parties chasing RC Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov because they want to solve the problematic position on Howe’s side.

Newcastle would also like to strengthen in attack, with a right-sided striker among the top priorities despite Jacob Murphy’s recent form. It is believed that Miguel Almiron could leave on a free transfer this January, with the Tyneside outfit looking to use that cash to reinvest in the position, even as they move towards long-term targets Noni Madueke and Anthony Elanga seems unlikely midway through the campaign, with both players featuring for sides looking to beat the Magpies to a place in next season’s Champions League.

However, with limited funds and big ambitions, Newcastle may have to be clever with their signings, as they were set to sign Yankuba Minteh from Danish club Odense before selling him to Brighton for a huge profit in the summer.

In fact, Arsenal, Bournemouth, Brentford, Chelsea, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest are all believed to be interested, along with clubs across Europe, with Atalanta, Borussia Dortmund and Marseille also named in the report, while Cesc Fàbregas’ Como side are the latest to showed great interest.

A left winger by profession, but also capable of playing on the right, Hernandez renewed his contract with his current club last April, and although he is expected to leave in the upcoming transfer window, it is added that the Spanish side will demand a €20 million release clause (16 .7 million pounds) for the 22-year-old to be paid in order for him to leave the club in the next month.

With scouts reportedly sent from all over Europe to watch the winger perform, it doesn’t sound like he will be playing in Spain’s second division for much longer, and Newcastle could be the perfect destination for him to progress.
