Man Utd make new approach for £30k-p/w Brazil’s INEOS sought before Ugarte
Manchester United have taken another approach to signing a new face to bolster their midfield ranks as they look to turn around their poor form Reuben Amorim eye, according to a new report.
Manchester United are struggling under Amorim
Despite Amor’s arrival in November, things have not improved for United so far this season. Although they fought for a draw 2-2 with Premier League leading Liverpool in their last outing, the point extended their winless streak to five games, having lost the previous four.
It also means Amorim have won just two of their first nine Premier League games, opening the door to potential relegation with their side currently just nine points clear of the relegation zone in 13th place, the lowest they have ever been at this stage campaigns.
“I think there is a possibility. We have to be clear with our fans,” explained the new head coach of the Red Devils. “This is a really difficult moment, one of the most difficult moments in the history of Manchester United and we have to deal with it with fairness.”
One of the biggest problems has been in central midfield, where both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are the wrong side of their prime and lack the energy needed for Amorim’s high-pressing 3-4-2-1 system.
The pairing of Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte seems to provide a solution to this, with the younger duo working well in tandem against Liverpool, with Mainoo’s introduction proving a key turning point in the defeat to Newcastle the previous game. But the club undoubtedly needs more investment on that front, and now they could find their man.
Manchester United have a new approach for the Wolves midfielder
This comes as a new report from TEAMtalk claims Manchester United have again asked Wolves for details on a potential move to sign Joao Gomes in the upcoming transition periods.
The Red Devils have long been interested in the Brazilian number 8, having pursued before finally deciding to sign with Ugarte over the summer.
That interest clearly remains, and with Wolves currently battling relegation, the club could sniff out a potential bid at Molineux. It was described by football analyst Ben Mattinson Gomes as a “serious player” still has three and a half years of running left £30,000 a week deal in the Midlands but is unlikely to stay if Old Gold find themselves in England’s second tier.

However, any deal is unlikely to happen this winter, with the report claiming that Wolves are “not open to considering selling him in this transfer window” short of a “big offer”, something Manchester United are unlikely to be able to put together given it their well-documented financial issues.
Should he be available this summer, Manchester United are unlikely to be the only side looking to sign him, but he could prove a huge upgrade on their current midfield options and offer more much-needed energy to Ruben Amorim’s side.
