Every player outside of the Man Utd clash
Liverpool are looking to start the new year in style when they host Premier League rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Reds fly high on on top of the table and will be looking to continue their exceptional form in 2025. Their first test comes from bitter foes Man Utd, who head to Anfield lacking confidence and stranded in the bottom half.
Liverpool will be clear favorites for a nice win on Sunday and their short injury list only strengthens their position.
Here are those unavailable for Liverpool against Ruben Amorim’s side.
Liverpool would have enjoyed a perfect away game against West Ham United last weekend but for Joe Gomez’s injury. The central defender limped off in the 37th minute Victory 5-0 and he was replaced by young Jarell Quansah.
Unfortunately for the Reds, Gomez will be out for the foreseeable future after pulling a hamstring, with Slott confirming he is guaranteed to be sidelined for at least “a few weeks”.
“Joe is of course not in a good place when it comes to his injury. He’s out for a few weeks, that’s for sure,” admitted the Dutchman.
Ibrahima Konate has been a significant absentee from the Liverpool defense recently after picking up a knee injury during the 2-0 win Real Madrid at the end of November. He has been out since, but could return this weekend against the Red Devils.
Slot confirmed the centre-back has returned to full team training on Friday ahead of the visit of Man Utd, but that does not necessarily guarantee him a place in the starting line-up or squad for the game. However, he will likely be available in some capacity.
Conor Bradley has also been absent since Champions League triumph over Real Madrid, with the right back suffering a hamstring injury against the reigning European champions. However, similar to Konate, Slot revealed that Bradley could return on Sunday.
“Conor and Ibou will train with us today [Friday] for the first time,” Slott said in a pregame press conference.
“So, [I am] curious and interested to see exactly where they are, of course. They’ve worked hard to get back into the team, but the next step is always, ‘How do you handle the team sessions?’ They will train with us today, the two of them.
“I hope everyone is ready – apart from Joe Gomez – to be part of the game on Sunday.”
