Joe Rogan, Mel Gibson blast Gov. Newsom amid wildfires: ‘Personally destroyed’ California
Podcaster Joe Rogan, a a longtime critic California Gov. Gavin Newsom ripped the Democrat while talking to director Mel Gibson on Thursday.
Many celebrities have lost their homes in the Palisades as the fires continue has been raging there and elsewhere in Los Angeles County, burning more than 27,000 acres, destroying more than 10,000 structures and killing at least 7 people since Thursday, according to local officials.
In Rogan’s Texas studio, Gibson noted that he would be “surprised if my home was still there” in Southern California, saying his son, a volunteer firefighter, “sent me a video of my neighborhood, and it’s on fire. It looks like hell .” Gibson later confirmed that his house was indeed destroyed.
“Do you think this will finally get you out of California?” Rogan, a former Californian himselfasked.
“Yeah, maybe,” Gibson replied, suggesting he might go to his home in Costa Rica.
The conversation then turned to how the country is run by its predominantly democratic government.
“They spent 24 billion dollars last year for the homelessand how much did they spend on preventing those wildfires?” Rogan asked. “Zip.”
“Zip,” Gibson agreed. “And in 2019, Newsom said, you know, he was going to take care of the forest, maintain the forest and do all these things. He did nothing.”
“On top of that, they shut off the water,” Rogan said.
Gibson then joked, “All our tax dollars probably went to Gavin’s hair gel.”

“The whole country is so badly governed,” podcast host claimed. “It’s so frustrating and confusing. And then he comes on TV and pretends everything is great, ‘California is the best, we have the best state, we have the most amazing economy,’ like…. You’re out of your mind — I’m thinking, dude .’
“You destroyed this country, you personally destroyed it,” Rogan said of Newsom.
“Well, it’s the same crew that was in San Francisco, and they come to LA and they do what they did in San Francisco,” Gibson said.

“San Francisco is like apocalyptic now. I went there and it was like people, you know, homeless people, it’s just a mess,” he added.
“It’s just unbelievable that society can fall apart so quickly,” Rogan said.
