INEOS are planning a move for the £62m striker to Man Utd

Two weeks into the January transfer window, it’s no surprise to see Manchester United inexorably linked with new attackers to try Reuben Amorim with the ammunition necessary for success.

The Red Devils have often boasted a wealth of attacking talent, leading the club to glory over the years – mostly under the guidance of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, the club has now gone a decade without one Premier League title, with the 39-year-old the next man in charge to try and end the unimaginable wait for a league triumph.

He has already made positive strides since arriving in the North West, masterminding an FA Cup win over rivals Arsenal at the weekend – despite playing with just ten men for over an hour.

However, if he is to be successful and write his name in the history books at the Theater of Dreams, he needs a star striker to lead his side to glory, with one name emerging on their shortlist over the past few days.

Man Utd in the race for attacking star

According to reports from Italy, Man United continues to monitor the situation Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic before the transfer window expires in two weeks with a player who has ‘entered the crosshairs’ of the club’s ownership group, INEOS.

However, they are not alone in their pursuit, with Arsenal and PSG also showing an interest in signing the Serbian international this month.

The report claims that this is not the first time the Red Devils have been in the running for his signature, but Amorim’s side could opt to offload fellow striker Joshua Zirkzee if a deal for the former Fiorentina ace is completed.

Any deal could potentially hinge on United target Randal Kolo Muani now looking good transfer to an Italian club on loan from PSG in the coming days after weeks of speculation – opening the door for a potential departure for Vlahovic.

The striker, who joined Juve in January 2022, could reportedly be available for around €75m (£62m) in this window – with his number of goals from 12 goals in the 2024/25 season allowing United to have their own version of a star who is also ready for a move to the Premier League.

Why Vlahović could be Amorim’s own Marmoush

Omar Marmoush was a player constantly advertised moving to England following his recent form for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

He was an Egyptian close to joining the surprise pack Nottingham Forest in the summer, but decided to stay with the German team – scoring 14 times in only 16 matchesand only Harry Kane has scored more in this Bundesliga term.

However, it is said to be already agreed personal conditions due to move to Manchester City this month, and journalist Fabrizio Romano claims he has done a deal could be completed very quickly.

United must wish they could get their hands on a star as clinical as the 25-year-old, but Vlahovic’s move could see the club get their own version of a talisman.

The Serbian could follow in the Egyptian’s footsteps if both move to the English Premier League in the next few weeks, providing the added attacking threat that both Manchester clubs have lacked in recent months – potentially facing a rivalry for many years.

Vlahović, who was previously called “one of the best” striker of former England manager Fabio Capello, may have been better than Marmoush so far, but he is won more air jumps at 90 and achieved a better success rate – offering Amorim the focal point he craved.

He is too achieved the same success ratemaking him a perfect fit in Amorim’s system, which requires players to do more than just be confident with the ball at their feet in attacking zones.

While competition could be tough for the striker’s signature, it is crucial that United can seal a deal for a new signing this month to try to resurrect a sub-par start to the campaign.

Vlahovic could prove to be a great option for the Red Devils, providing the kind of threat that has been sorely lacking in recent months, becoming their own version of Marmoush – with the Juve ace having all the tools to succeed in England’s top flight.
