India collapsed after the Sydney Test failure
The New Year Test between India and Australia began on January 3 at the legendary Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). This is a do-or-die encounter for Team India as Australia have already taken a 2-1 lead in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Well, the pitch and the captain have changed, and even the year, but Virat Kohli’s old problems remain the same, as the former Indian captain once again disappointed with his batting in the ongoing fifth and final Test against Australia in Sydney.
Virat Kohli’s nagging issues resurfaced in Sydney, fans call for retirement
On the third ball of the 32nd over, Scott Boland managed to get the better of the Indian senior batsman and was caught at third slip by Beau Webster. Scott Boland continued to test Kohli outside the off stump and finally got the upper hand. The Australian pacer clocked 135.8km/h, outside off and back of a length, and Virat Kohli, batting from the crease to prevent movement, bowled it lightly.

The ball took the edge and flew to Beau Webster, who jumped to his left to make a sharp catch. Kohli couldn’t soften his hands enough and India are now in serious trouble with four less wickets for just 72. Kohli had bowled similar deliveries earlier but couldn’t control his intent and lost the wicket, departing for just 17 off 69 balls at the SCG .
After yet another failure in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, fans went berserk at Virat Kohli for going out in the same vein. Fans started sharing Thank You Virat Kohli posts, demanding his retirement from Test cricket. Many called him a stupid batsman.
Here’s how fans react to Virat Kohli’s failure at SCG:

Survived many inner edges
Danced on the field
Out the same way after eating 69 balls
still playing for the last 5 years due to the peak of 4 years.

He continuously tries to play offside and ends up throwing his goal post. He’s off target now, he should pull away nicely

Virat seems to have embraced the “nick it” style, with no signs of fixing it. It’s disappointing to see such a great player fall into the same trap over and over again. #AUSvIND #ViratKohli
