Heather Nelson, 29, attacked and robbed an elderly woman after the victim told her she couldn’t afford the $500 bonus she was claiming, according to Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
When the victim said she didn’t have enough money to pay the bonus, Nelson responded by “physically ripping the victim’s checkbook out of her hand, stole the check from the checkbook, and then, I guess in an attempt to ruin other people’s Christmas like, well, stole Christmas cards that were supposed to be mailed and contained checks,” Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.

Ivey criticized Nelson as a “Grinch” who “went too far.”
Nelson, who the sheriff repeatedly referred to as “the Grinch,” nearly broke the victim’s wrist in the incident.

The investigation also revealed that Nelson wrote a stolen check for $1,400 and then used the victim’s credit card to pay her own rent as well as other purchases.
Nelson was taken into custody on Tuesday after the check has cleared and the credit card transactions posted.
Deputies obtained a warrant and arrested Nelson on charges of robbery by surprise, aggravated battery to a person over 65, forgery, use of a forged instrument, criminal use of personal identification, fraudulent use of a credit card and aggravated theft.
