Hamas choreographed showing force as he surrenders to hostages
In a recent interview with the Israeli TV station, Chen Goldstein-Almog, Israeli hostage published in November 2023, said that when she and her daughter were released, they were transferred to the Red Cross vehicle surrounded by a large crowd of people.
“I remember Agam told me,” Mom, we’re going to die today, “she said, remembering that moment.” It was scary to the end. “
In an interview after last Sunday’s hostage release, Yves Daccord, former Director General of the Red Cross, said the hostage pendants should happen in a quiet place, far from the public.
“Generally, the ideal is without a bunch,” Mr. Daccord said. Laying hostages at a major public gathering, he added, was burdened with risk and unpredictability.
Israeli medical professionals who advocated hostages in Gaza warned that chaotic handover can trigger traumatic memories of the first moments of hostages in Gaza, in which the militants part of them drove through the infamous crowds.
“The edition was somewhat experienced by the abduction,” said Dr. Hagai Levine, head of a medical team with a hostage forum and missing families, an Israeli group.
Since last Sunday came into force of the fire interruption agreement between Hamas and Israel, Hamas worked hard to show that the dominant Palestinian party remains in Gaza, and the militants parade through the city centers and police officers arranged at intersections.
It is not clear how many fighters, police officers, bureaucrats and political leaders survive the war, but showing handover in such a public way, Hamas made it clear that he was still standing in parts of Gaza who were exposed to some of the most destructive attacks of the war bombing.
