Theft of checked baggage is nothing new. The Department of Homeland Security said in 2005 that dozens TSA baggage screeners were discontinued at several major US airports in 2005 due to the alleged theft of valuables from checked bags.

The incident serves as a reminder to take precautions when traveling, such as putting valuables in carry-on luggage or using tracking devices like AirTags.
