Flashback: Last summer, Rogan warned of a future wildfire ‘burning through LA all the way to the ocean’

A clip of podcast host Joe Rogan warning of the inevitable wildfires destroying Los Angeles last summer now it has reappeared that is burning thousands of acres across LA County.

During a July episode of the podcast with comedian Sam Morrill, Rogan mentioned how an LA firefighter once told him that one day—under the right conditions—a wildfire would decimate the area.

“He says, ‘One day, there’s just going to be the right wind, and the fire is going to start in the right place, and it’s going to burn through LA all the way to the ocean, and there’s not a f*cking…thing we can do about it,'” said the hostwhile also wearing a “Los Angeles City Fire Department” logo T-shirt.

Firefighters in the country’s second largest city and surrounding areas are struggling more devastating forest fires in recent days that have killed five people, destroyed thousands of homes and other buildings and forced more than 100,000 people to evacuate.

Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Sheila Kelliher spoke to Fox News on Wednesday, describing the scenes of scorched hillsides as “dramatic and apocalyptic.”

Kelliher mentioned seeing winds “up to 70, 80, even 100 miles per hour” fanning the flames across the region.

As Rogan noted in his July video, his fire department source emphasized that the inferno that destroys the city depends on the wind. He noted that residents have been “lucky” so far.

“He says, ‘Yeah, we just got lucky.’ He says, ‘We’re lucky with the wind… But if the wind blows in the wrong direction, it’s just going to burn right through LA,’ he said.

Rogan repeated the firemen’s claim that they would not be able to prevent it. “‘And there’s nothing we can do about it,'” he said, quoting the first respondent.

“Because these fires are so big, man, when you talk about it thousands of hectares burning at the same time, with winds of about 40 miles per hour,” the anchor added.

Elsewhere during the July episode, Rogan stated that the threat of “the next fire” was one of the reasons he left California for Texas in 2020.
