Birman told Fox News Digital that the letter was conceived as a direct response to the E -Student Student Government of Barnard (SGA), condemning college for calling the police to intervene in the riots.

“My friends and I, especially Shoshan and I, were very frustrated with it because we didn’t think the Student Government of Student Government really represented us, because we honestly felt more safe that we had a police on our campus when there was a bomb threat and when we were in an emergency,” for Fox News Digital. “And we do not think that the police promise that they will never come to the campus for the benefit of our community safety.”

The SGA also cited three requests in the letter: First, “Amnesty for all students associated with Milstein Library Sit-In”; Second, “well -meaning negotiations” with older staff, SGA and student protesters; and third, the restructuring of Barnard’s disciplinary process on one that includes students as well as college.

“I mean, definitely a lot comes from social media, no doubt. But a lot just repeats what has been heard in the past. What has been repeated since last spring at the campus,” Birman told Fox News Digital.

Birman told Fox News Digital that, despite the demonstrations of anti-Israela agitator at campus, she generally felt physically safe to threatening the bomb.

“Most of the time, I feel completely safe by walking on a dog’s label, my David star, all these things. But when these protests of the flames, I really have to be careful where I go, I talk to which I make eye contact. And I just have to be a little deliberate in everything I do,” Birmman said.

All in all, Birman is not satisfied with Barnard’s handling Anti -Semitism in campus. She told Fox News Digital that the college has been making “great fstrid” lately, but there is still room for progress.

“I think the biggest aspect of this is to admit that what happens is anti -Semitism. They admit that it is a form of hatred, and they admit that it is intimidation and that it creates a sense of restlessness in the campus. But they have not really said anything about anti -Semitism.

Barnard College did not immediately respond to the Fox News Digital request for comment on Birman’s letter and the “promise” mentioned in the SGA statement.
