Entry of Ebola declared in the Uganda capital, reported 1st death – National
Uganda confirmed the outbreak of Ebola virus in the Campal capital, and the first confirmed patient died of it on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health said on Thursday.
It is the ninth epidemic of East Africa country because it recorded its first viral disease infection in 2000.
The patient, the male nurse at the National Hospital for referring to the Campali mulago, initially sought treatment at various institutions, including the MEMLJE, as with the traditional healer, after developing symptoms similar to the fever.
“The patient experienced a multiple organs failure and succumbed to the disease at the National Hospital for referring to MEGJEGLAb on January 29. Lastly samples confirmed the disease of the Ebola Ebol (SAST) virus,” the statement said.
Forty -four late man’s contacts were listed for the search, including 30 healthcare workers, the Ministry said.

However, the search for contact could be challenging because Kampala, where the latest Ebola infection appeared, is full of a city over 4 million people and the intersection for traffic to southern Sudan, Congo, Rwanda and other countries.
High contagious hemorrhagic fever is transmitted by contact with infected body fluids and tissue. Symptoms include headache, blood vomiting, muscle pain and bleeding.
Ebola virus vaccine development
Ugandan authorities used the capacity built over the years, such as laboratory testing, patients’ knowledge, searching for contact and other skills, to bring the recent Ebola epidemics under control under control.
The World Health Organization has announced that it has allocated $ 1 million from its emergency fund for emergency cases to support the fast action to contain outbreaks.
The global health body also collaborated with developers at the saliva of candidate vaccines, the statement said.
Uganda last suffered an epidemic at the end of 2022, which killed 55 of 143 infected persons. This epidemic was proclaimed January 11, 2023.
Ebola vaccination for all the contacts of the deceased will begin immediately, the Ministry said. Currently, there is no approved vaccine for Sodan Sudan, although Uganda has received some doses of experimental vaccines during the last epidemic.
The outbreak of Marburg, a cousin Ebola, was proclaimed last week in neighboring Tanzania. Uganda also borders Rwanda, who has just come out of the outbreak of Marburg, and Kong where Ebola outbreaks are common.
