Donald Trump sworn in as 47th US president, decrying ‘American decline’ | News about Donald Trump

Donald Trump was to swear for the second term of the President of the United States in Washington, DC.

Trump used his inauguration speech to reiterate his grievances against his political opponents, saying he would “liberate” the country from a “radical and corrupt establishment.”

Declaring that the government is facing a “crisis of confidence,” Trump promised a brighter future under his administration in his inaugural address. “Our sovereignty will be restored. Our security will be restored. The scales of justice will balance again,” he said.

Trump claimed a “mandate to completely and utterly reverse the appalling betrayal”, vowing to “give back to the people their faith, their wealth, their democracy and indeed their freedom”.

“From this moment forward,” he added, “the decline of America is complete.”

Trump also revealed a series of executive actions he plans to take in quick succession after his inauguration. The executive orders are the first step in what Trump calls a “total rebuilding of America and a revolution of common sense.”

The cold weather changed the splendor of the day. Trump’s swearing-in was moved indoors to the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol — the first time it has happened in 40 years — and the inaugural parade was replaced by an event in a downtown arena.

Crowds of Trump supporters who descended on the city to watch the inaugural ceremony outside the US Capitol were left to find other places to watch the festivities.

Vice President JD Vance was the first to be sworn in at the US Capitol, taking the oath on a Bible given to him by his great-grandmother. Trump followed moments later, just after noon ET (17:00 GMT), using both the family Bible and the one used by the late President Abraham Lincoln in 1861.

A cadre of billionaires and tech titans — including Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Tim Cook and Sundar Pichai — were given prominent positions in the Capitol Rotunda, mingling with Trump’s incoming team before the ceremony began.

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, was also in attendance as he is expected to lead efforts to cut spending and cut federal employees as Trump’s adviser.
